Default "Meteor" replacement?

Was wondering if someone would suggest a replacement for Meteor.

A longtime staple of my fire ele builds, I'd start an attack with Meteor due to it's (formerly) quick casting time and effectiveness/cost. But, these days it just seems worthless (i.e. interrupt food). Arrgh.

Did I miss an 'update' (ahem: nerf) where the cast time was lengthened from two sec to THREE? Ouch.

Meteor has always been 3 second cast time. Throw in the 30 second recharge and it becomes a pretty darn mediocre spell that's usually not worth it. it's hard to give you a replacement without seeing your skillbar, but [skill]fireball[/skill] and [skill]rodgort's invocation[/skill] are the baseline fire AoE spells that pretty much every non-SF bar should have. You can spend almost all your time spamming those two spells.

meteor never was a good skill, was 3 second cast 30 recharge as long as I can remember... never was on my fire ele's bar...
however now fire eles are limited to either SFway, SHway or Mindblastway which is more than some other professions

WTB meteor improvement:
Meteor 10 energy 2 sec cast 15 recharge
Target foe and all adjacent foes are struck for 7...91 fire damage and knocked down. This spell causes Exhaustion.

I seem to remember a time when meteor was a 5 second recharge.

why use SF,SH or mind blast when you have dual attune rodgorts spammers?^^(for destroyers/titans,winter is the way to go!)

Winter chance the damage after damage-calculation.
So, you will deal the same amount of damage.

Winter is pretty much useless unless you use Mantra of Frost or want to prevent Mark of Rodgort or Glimmering Mark to trigger.

Meteor has been 3c, 30r throughout the entire history of the game.

OP is an example of someone who blindly blames Anet for all the "nerfs" to their favorite skills. Meteor has never been any less than 3 second cast from what I remember. The game used to be slower paced in PvE, so 3 seconds may seem a bit faster back then :P

Something seems to have changed with Winter. I remember a while back when I did the final prophecies mission, Winter with fire magic caused more damage, so the damage conversion worked correctly. I did the mission again recently and fire with winter sucked. Bug?

Oh btw Meteor needs a buff.
